Camping Miravalle Val di Fassa

We camped here for two nights in our van. The campsite is the nicest I have stayed in. Lots of the pitches are next to the river, the camping area is very well kept and tidy and the pitches are decent sizes. Plus the facilities are spotless and up to date. It is definitely worth the money! Oh, and the restaurant is great and very reasonably priced.

We experienced no particular problems with personnel's willingness to help us in different situations during our stay. But still we expected a better flexibility and service level for this price. The stay is quite expensive even for a small tent without electricity. What we didn't like considering this price (about 70 EUR per night for a family of three), was: - the rules allow no less than 7 days reservation of tent place in high season. We accepted it when we booked, but chose to arrive one day later about one week before planned , because weather forecast showed heavy rain at the first day. The owners refused to charge us for one day less, even as an exception. So we payed for 6 days even though the stay lasted only 5. We came from where there is lack of sun, so for us it was important to drop a rainy day at one place to enjoy a sunny day at another place. The camping rules regarding minimum number of days for booking of tent place (not even a camper place) are too strict. 70 EUR meaned more for us than for the camping management. - microwave oven in the kitchen was not working. It's really disappointing when you buy food considering that you can make it warm when it's needed, just to see later that after 4 minutes in the oven the meal is completely cold, then run to the reception to solve the problem and then to the restaurant (which is luckily open at this time of the day) where you need to wait some extra time while the personnel is done with other customers and ready to put your meals in their own microwave or whatever they have - all this while your kid is screaming for food. The microwave was neither repaired nor replaced next day after our message, and the cleaning lady said us that she asked to fix the microwave multiple times before, all without luck. Of course this was even more disappointing to hear. If it's so difficult to make this thing work, it should be removed or marked as out of order, so that people at least know that they shouldn't count on it. - Even though the bathrooms were flawlessly clean, it didn't really help when we couldn't use them at several occasions just because of the ongoing cleaning round. - soap dispensers in the bathrooms were installed only at some few of the sinks. We think that for this price per day one can count for better availability of soap in the bathroom. It's not convenient when someone occupies the vacant sink with the soap and others who come after need to approach the same sink all the time. In the bathroom on the ground floor (the one for the handicapped) the soap was diluted with water! What we really liked, must say it once again, is that cleaning personnel was working really hard to keep the building with common facilities very very clean and nice. Places for tents were good, easy to install tent, levelled and with draining (water disappeared quick enough after a heavy rain). As one can see, the named advantages have less to do with the current camping administrating personnel than the named disadvantages do. So the total of 3 stars looks fair to us.
